• Are Sunpak mounting brackets and transformers included?

  Yes.

• Are the SUNPAK units difficult to install?

  Yes. This is not a project for the weekend do-it-yourself person. Safety is always our first concern. We recommend that you find a licensed, bonded HVAC contractor to do the installation. These units require plumbing and electrical skills to be installed correctly.

• Can I minimize the clearance to combustibles by heat shielding Sunpak heaters?

  Sometimes. Adequate space around each heater is required even when the materials surrounding the heater are non-combustible to provide adequate combustion air and ventilation of exhaust gases. Don’t take a chance, call us first.

• Can I use SUNPAK units to heat my garage?

  No. The SUNPAK units are approved for OUTDOOR residential use.

• Can SUNPAK units be placed under an awning type patio cover?

  Yes, as long as the clearances to combustibles are maintained. Additional clearance may be required for glass, painted surfaces, vinyl siding or other materials which may be damaged by radiant or convection heat.

• Can the Sunpak heat output be adjusted?

  Yes. The newer S34 TSH and S34 TSR units have two heat settings. The original units were either “on” or “off”.

• Can the SUNPAK units be controlled with a thermostat?

  Yes. We recommend however that something other than a thermostat to be used. Thermostats operate on air temperature. Sunpak heaters heat up objects rather than the air, and the thermostat may not ever turn the heaters off. We recommend using a wall switch, timer or TSH controller.

• Can the SUNPAK units be recessed into a ceiling?

  No. Heaters should never be located in a ceiling recess or soffit.

• Can the Sunpak units be shipped UPS?

  Yes. We typically ship 1-4 units UPS ground. Everything is double packed for safety. Anything over 5 units will go on a truck.

• Do you install Sunpak heaters?

  No. You will need to hire an honest hard working contractor experienced with gas piping and electrical. We are happy to work with you or your contractor on design.

• Do you offer discount pricing for Sunpak units?

  Yes, we offer discount pricing to qualified contractors, supply houses and quantity buyers. Please refer to our Trade Membership Program.

• How many SUNPAK units do I need?

  Coverage is relative to climate. Our experience has been that in warm climates (Southern California, Arizona, Florida, Texas) an S34 mounted between 8-9 feet, will cover a 12’x12′ area and the S25 a 10’x 10′ area. • Is it possible to convert a SUNPAK from natural gas to propane?

  Yes. We recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for details on how this is done.

• Is there a warranty for Sunpak units and what does it cover?

  SUNPAK Infrared Heaters ordered from us carry a 1-year warranty. All heaters are stamped with the date of manufacture. Warranty is limited to repair of heaters at the factory or replacement parts. Any work or repair on a SUNPAK heater must be performed by qualified service personnel.

• I thought these Sunpak units used gas, why do I need a transformer?

  The Sunpak series does use gas (natural or propane) as fuel for combustion. Electricity is needed to power the electronic ignition system. The Sunpak units operate on 24 Volts AC power only. • What additional items are needed for Sunpak installation?

  A Sunpak mounting kit (part # 12006) and a 24 Volt transformer.

• What advantages are there with SUNPAK over mushroom style heaters?

  The biggest advantage is that they are up out of the way. Many restaurant owners tell us “floor space equals money”. Many mushroom style heaters rely on a standing pilot for operation. The Sunpaks can be wired to a wall switch and simply turned on when needed.

• What are the Sunpak gas types available?

  SUNPAK units are available in both propane and natural gas configurations.

• What colors are the available Sunpak heaters?

  Both Sunpak models (S25, S34) are available in black or stainless steel.

• What should I use to control the Sunpak units?

  We recommend either a wall switch, timer or TSH controller. Most restaurants will zone the heaters in groups of two or three and control them from a single switch.

• What voltage do these Sunpak units require?

  24 Volts AC. We supply a 24V – 40VA transformer with every heater. TSR units are 120V supplied with DC transformer.

• Where can I get Sunpak replacement parts?

  Contact us for parts. If we don't have them available on our website, we can custom order them for you.

• Where should I locate the SUNPAK units?

  If possible, place the units on the side with the greatest heat loss. When possible locate the units so that a 30-degree angle may be used. Heaters should never be located in a ceiling recess or soffit.

• Who do I call for service?

  Generally, an HVAC contractor is a good bet. If there are not any in your area, you can send the unit directly to the manufacturer for repairs. There will be a charge of $50 plus parts.

• Why would I want a Sunpak heater in stainless steel?

  Stainless steel not only looks good but is very corrosion resistant. If you are located next to water, we recommend using the stainless Sunpak versions.

• Will I be able to use my Sunpak patio heaters during the winter months?

  Depending on where you live, not likely. These heaters are not designed to melt snow and ice. Sunpak heaters generally increase the comfort level 5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit outdoors.

• Will you help me if I have a problem with my Sunpak units?

  Absolutely. Your customers are our customers. We can help solve warranty problems and help you raise them with the manufacturer.
